What Is a Releasing Concert?
An experimental, and hopefully transformational, musical format — developed by the composer Erinala.

What is Releasing?
By Erinala
Releasing is something we all do naturally, whether we realize it or not. Put simply, it's when you let something go. Typically it's not really a thing that you're letting go of; it's actually the feeling that you're letting go of. Typically this is a feeling of wanting, such as wanting approval or control.
Most people are instinctively holding onto something that is causing them to suffer. Few people realize there's a simple way to deliberately trigger a release without having to effort at it. I say "trigger a release" because there's a part of you that responds to this process on its own, without effort. It's a different part of you than the thinking mind. If you're doing this from a place of effort, you're not releasing; you're doing something else. Releasing is when you stop putting in effort.
If releasing is something we all do naturally, why do we need something like this? Because we've all been trained out of releasing, under the mistaken assumption that this keeps the gears of society moving. Just stuff your emotions. No one has time for your feelings. Little do we know that society would function better if we all could feel a little more at ease.
What to Expect at a Releasing Concert
Releasing your feelings is not the same thing as expressing them. That's because they often leave when we let go. So, relax. You will not be expected to weep loudly, scream and shake your fist in anger, or anything like that. (And you don't need to fake such gestures to fit in.)
That said, crying is normal and natural. Tissues will be available. It might happen, it might not, and it doesn't matter either way. You won't be shamed for expressing emotions either, if they need to be expressed.
Whatever you do, expect to turn your phones and mobile devices off, and give your full attention to being guided through a process I have found transformative in my own life, woven in with music improvised on the spot. Be especially open to the possibility of learning that process for yourself, as something you can take with you and use on your journey through life. I want you to have something that you can use yourself when I am not present.
What Style of Music?
Piano! I play in many styles. Classical. Romantic. Contemporary. Sometimes a bit jazzy, sometimes a bit cinematic.
It's all improvised on the spot, so whatever comes out is what comes out!
